At the recent 2022 earnings presentation, global power battery leader CATL’s Chairman and General Manager Zeng Yuqun said that CATL's M3P battery is expected to be delivered in mass production this year.

Zeng Yuqun said, "In the case of large-scale applications, M3P battery can reduce costs and increase efficiency, low-temperature performance, energy density better than lithium iron phosphate batteries, and cost better than ternary Li-ion batteries. In an investor research event in February last year, CATL said for the first time that it planned to launch a new product M3P battery, but this product is not lithium manganese iron phosphate battery to be exact, the battery cathode material also contains other metal elements, which the company calls ternary lithium battery of phosphate system.

Last August,CATL chief scientist Wu Kai, who attended the 2022 World Power Battery Conference last year, further explained, "M3P battery can be aimed at mid-range models with a range of about 700km. Previously for models with this range,CATL used medium and low nickel ternary cathode material solutions, which are relatively more costly. Combined with the 'Kirin battery' pack structure, M3P's new material can also meet the needs of such models." Wu Kai said.

Shenyang Securities research report analysis,CATL M3P battery may be doped with two of the metal elements such as magnesium, zinc, aluminum, etc., in part of the iron element point to form a replacement, thereby generating phosphate system of ternary materials to improve the charge and discharge capacity and cycle stability.
