About TOB NEW ENERGY and our products
Q1. Who is TOB NEW ENERGY?
TOB NEW ENERGY (XIAMEN TOB NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGY Co., Ltd.) is a battery research and production solutions provider founded in 2012 in Xiamen, China, by Dr. Dany Huang — our founder and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Huang has worked in lithium-ion battery engineering for over 24 years (since 2002), progressing from pouch cell materials development through cylindrical and large prismatic cell production, and is a named inventor on 55 Chinese patents as of September 2026, spanning battery manufacturing equipment, dry electrode production, cathode material systems and process environmental control.
Today the company is backed by a technical team of more than 300 engineers and workers and serves over 8,000 clients — universities, research institutes, startups and battery manufacturers — across five continents. Our clients along the way have included Apple, Samsung and SKC (battery pack equipment and materials, 2016), Solid Power (USA), Cellforce, Lyten (USA), Venkor and SES (2023), and ONE (USA), Fraunhofer IWS (Germany), IM3NY, FREYR and MORROW (2024). The company is certified to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Q2. What does a full set of solutions for battery machines mean?
It means we support the entire battery value chain in one place: research and development, pilot-scale trials and mass production. Instead of buying machines, materials and services from separate suppliers, you can work with one partner that supplies the equipment, the matching materials, the process know-how, and even complete pilot or turnkey production lines — from laboratory coin cells to cylindrical, pouch and prismatic cell lines, supercapacitor lines and beyond.
Q3. What products and categories do you offer?
Our catalog covers both battery equipment and battery materials, including:
- Battery R&D and cell-making equipment: coin cell equipment, electrode preparation (mixing, coating, rolling, slitting), dry electrode film solutions, cylindrical, pouch and prismatic cell assembly machines, drying ovens, glove boxes, lab furnaces, ball mills and laboratory devices.
- Advanced and emerging battery solutions: solid-state battery equipment, sodium-ion battery solutions, supercapacitor equipment and materials, fuel cell solutions, thin-film solar cell and perovskite solar cell equipment.
- Testing and production systems: battery testers, battery pack assembly equipment (18650 and prismatic), and complete battery production lines from R&D scale to GWh-class manufacturing.
- Materials and components: battery materials (cathode, anode, electrolyte, separator, current collectors and more), supercapacitor materials, and batteries for sale.
Q4. Can you supply an entire R&D laboratory or a full production line?
Yes. We have designed more than 200 battery and supercapacitor lines and delivered complete R&D laboratories, pilot lines and turnkey production lines worldwide — including 18650 cylindrical and pouch cell projects in Asia and supercapacitor production lines delivered in Europe. Our self-built R&D and testing center covers more than 3,000 m² with six types of battery laboratories and three pilot lines, so every line we sell can be validated at our own facility before it ships.
Q5. Do you supply both equipment and the materials needed for my process?
Yes — this is one of our key advantages. We supply a full set of battery materials alongside our equipment, so you can order cell components and consumables (electrodes, foils, separators, electrolytes, cases and more) together with the machine that processes them. Tell our sales team your research or production goal, and we will help you match the right equipment with the right materials and specifications.
2
Coin Cell Laboratory Line — What Do You Need?
Q6. What equipment do I need to set up a coin cell R&D laboratory line?
A coin cell laboratory line follows the electrode-to-cell workflow. You can start with the core steps and add optional ones later, and we supply the materials together with the machines:
- Materials and cell components — battery materials (Battery Materials), lithium metal (Lithium Metal), coin cell parts such as cases, spacers, springs and gaskets (Coin Cell Parts).
- Slurry preparation — lab mixers (Lab Mixer, Battery Slurry Mixer) and optionally a slurry tester (Battery Slurry Tester).
- Coating and drying — lab coater (Lab Coater), materials and vacuum drying ovens (Battery Materials Drying Oven, Battery Vacuum Drying Oven).
- Rolling, slitting and punching — rolling press (Lab Roller Press, Electrode Rolling Press) and disc cutter (Coin Cell Disc Cutter).
- Cell assembly and sealing — electrolyte filler (Coin Cell Electrolyte Filler), crimping machine (Coin Cell Crimping Machine), optional split cell kit (Split Cell Research Part).
- Testing and environment — battery testers (Battery Tester), and a glove box for moisture-sensitive materials (Glove Box).
Q7. Can I buy the equipment and materials together as one matched package?
Yes. We supply equipment and materials from one order so the components, slurry recipes and machines are matched to your cell chemistry. Tell our team your target chemistry and specification (for example, cathode/anode system, coin cell type and expected capacity), and we will propose a complete package list with the right materials, machines and optional environment equipment. Inquiries are answered within 6 hours.
3
Battery Materials and Equipment Matching
Q8. Can I order battery materials together with the machine that processes them?
Yes. You can order cell components and consumables from the same source that supplies the machines — one purchase order, one technical contact, matched specifications:
- Cell-making inputs — active materials, binders and additives (Battery Materials), current collectors (Battery Current Collectors), lithium metal (Lithium Metal), coin cell parts (Coin Cell Parts).
- Electrolyte and separator system — electrolytes (Battery Electrolyte), separators and tapes (Battery Separator and Tape), aluminum laminated film (Aluminum Laminated Film).
- Advanced chemistries — sodium-ion, solid-state, fuel cell and supercapacitor materials (full list under Battery Materials).
Q9. What material specifications can you provide, and what are your order conditions?
Our sales team will confirm the available specification (such as purity, particle size, density or capacity) for the material you need before ordering, and can advise on packaging and storage. Sample and small-quantity orders for R&D are welcome: sample orders are typically prepared within 1–3 days and mass production orders within 10–20 days depending on quantity. Minimum order quantities and payment terms are confirmed on the proforma invoice for each order.
4
From Laboratory to Pilot and Mass Production
Q10. I currently run a coin cell R&D line. How can I scale up to pilot or mass production?
Scaling up does not mean starting over. We support the whole path from laboratory to pilot to gigafactory on one roadmap:
- We validate before we ship. We have designed more than 200 battery and supercapacitor lines, and our R&D and testing center (over 3,000 m²) contains six types of battery laboratories and three pilot lines.
- A clear five-step process. Requirement confirmation → solutions R&D → machine manufacturing → performance testing → pre-delivery inspection. You approve the machine at the testing stage before packing.
- Format and capacity are your choice. Step up to pouch (Pouch Cell Assembly Equipment), cylindrical (Cylindrical Cell Assembly Machine), prismatic (Prismatic Cell Assembly Machine) or complete lines (Battery Production Line), including sodium-ion (Sodium-ion Battery Solution), solid-state (Solid-state Battery Equipment), dry-process electrode (Dry Electrode Film Solution) and supercapacitor (Supercapacitor Equipment).
Q11. Do you have experience building laboratory, pilot and production lines for different markets?
Yes. Since 2012 we have grown from battery laboratory equipment into a one-stop provider for R&D, pilot and production systems, and have designed more than 200 battery and supercapacitor lines delivered worldwide. Our delivery record includes supercapacitor and pouch cell production lines in Europe and 18650 cylindrical and pilot lines in Asian and other markets. For references in your region and cell format, contact our team — we will share relevant project experience on request.

Sodium-ion, solid-state and high-rate battery equipment
Q12. Which battery chemistries does your equipment and materials cover?
All mainstream and next-generation chemistries — our scope is not limited to conventional lithium-ion. We supply equipment, materials and complete lines for lithium-ion, sodium-ion, solid-state, high-rate and drone batteries, plus supercapacitors, fuel cells and thin-film solar cells, from R&D scale to mass production:
- Lithium-ion — NCM, LFP, LCO and other mainstream cathode systems, in cylindrical, pouch, prismatic and coin cell formats;
- Sodium-ion — layered oxide, Prussian blue and polyanionic cathodes with hard-carbon anodes (Sodium-ion Battery Solution);
- Solid-state — sulfide, oxide and polymer electrolyte routes, including dry-electrode process equipment (Solid-state Battery Equipment, Dry Electrode Film Solution);
- High-rate and drone batteries — thin-coated, multi-tab electrodes with high-current formation and testing;
- Supercapacitors and other storage (Supercapacitor Equipment).
Q13. What is the difference between lithium-ion and sodium-ion battery equipment?
The manufacturing processes are largely the same — mixing, coating, rolling, slitting, cell assembly, electrolyte filling and formation are common to both chemistries, so most lithium-ion machines can be used for sodium-ion cells, or converted with parameter and module changes. The practical differences come from the materials:
- Electrode design — sodium-ion electrodes are often thicker with a lower compaction density, so coating thickness and rolling pressure are adjusted to the hard-carbon anode and the cathode system;
- Current collectors — sodium-ion cells can use aluminum foil on the anode side (no copper foil needed), which mainly changes the materials you order rather than the machine itself;
- Environment control — moisture sensitivity depends on the exact material system, so drying ovens, dry rooms or glove boxes are specified per formulation (Battery Materials Drying Oven, Glove Box);
- Formation and testing — voltage windows and capacities differ, so formation programs and battery tester channels are configured for the sodium-ion electrochemistry (Battery Tester).
Q14. Can one production line switch between lithium-ion and sodium-ion cells?
Yes, in most cases. Because both chemistries share the same process steps, a line can be designed for flexible changeover. The key points are:
- Parameter recipes — coating weight, rolling pressure, slitting width, drying profile and formation curves are stored per chemistry and reloaded at changeover;
- Changeover cleaning — slurry lines, coating heads and tanks are cleaned between chemistries to avoid cross-contamination;
- Module and tooling swaps — dies, rollers and slitting tooling may be exchanged where electrode thickness differs significantly;
- Environment — if both chemistries run in the same area, the dry-room dew point is set to the stricter requirement of the two.
Q15. What should I consider when selecting equipment for solid-state batteries?
Solid-state covers several electrolyte routes, and each one changes the equipment list more than lithium versus sodium does:
- Sulfide-based electrolytes — highly moisture-sensitive, so handling, mixing and cell assembly typically need inert or very low dew-point environments with closed transfer (glove boxes and sealed process zones) (Glove Box);
- Oxide and polymer routes — more stable in air, but often need high-pressure densification or sintering steps for the electrolyte layer or the electrode stack;
- Dry-electrode processing — solvent-free electrode and electrolyte film production is a core route for solid-state scale-up and uses different equipment than wet coating (Dry Electrode Film Solution);
- Stacking and stack pressure — solid-state cells are usually stacked, requiring high alignment precision and pressure-controlled formation;
- Electrolyte filling — liquid filling may be reduced or replaced by in-situ polymerization or no liquid at all, which changes the filling and curing modules.
Q16. Do you provide equipment for high-rate (high C-rate) battery production?
Yes. High-rate cells — used in drones, power tools, eVTOL and fast-charging EVs — are made on the same core equipment with tighter process control. The differences that matter are:
- Thin, uniform coatings — lower areal loading with precise coating weight control to keep internal resistance low (Lab Coater and production coaters);
- Burr-free slitting and cutting — clean electrode edges to avoid micro-shorts at high current;
- Multi-tab and tab welding — more tabs or tabless designs distribute current and require precise welding on the assembly machine (Pouch Cell Assembly Equipment, Cylindrical Cell Assembly Machine);
- High-current formation and testing — formation and aging channels are rated for the cell C-rate with proper thermal management (Battery Tester);
- Consistency — tight winding and stacking alignment, plus cell matching for pack performance.
Q17. What should I consider when planning equipment for drone batteries?
Drone batteries combine high energy density with high discharge rate in a lightweight, highly consistent package — usually small pouch or cylindrical cells. Planning points:
- Materials and environment — high-energy chemistries (high-nickel cathodes or silicon-containing anodes) demand strict moisture control, from drying ovens to dry-room or glove-box handling (Battery Vacuum Drying Oven, Glove Box);
- Electrode quality — thin coatings, precise rolling and burr-free slitting keep resistance low and avoid defects under high-rate pulses;
- Lightweight assembly — compact pouch assembly with consistent tab welding and minimal dead weight (Pouch Cell Assembly Equipment);
- Formation and matching — high-current formation followed by capacity, voltage and internal-resistance screening so the cells in a pack are closely matched (Battery Tester);
- Pack integration — from cell to lightweight pack assembly within the drone power and weight budget.
Q18. Can your equipment and team support next-generation battery R&D and scale-up?
Yes — supporting emerging chemistries from laboratory to pilot and mass production is a core part of our business. We have designed more than 200 battery and supercapacitor lines, and our own R&D and testing center covers more than 3,000 m² with six types of battery laboratories and three pilot lines, so a new process can be validated at our facility before it is quoted as a line. Our clients have included next-generation battery developers such as Solid Power, SES, FREYR and MORROW, and our engineers work across lithium-ion, sodium-ion, solid-state and dry-electrode processes. Start with your material system and target cell — we will advise on the equipment, environment and materials package for each development stage, from single cells to pilot lines (Battery Production Line).
